oops.

i was about to use a song lyric for the title of this post, but then thought better of it.

two or so weeks of school left, so much to do.

i'm currently setting up base camp at the downtown library, i plan to get a ton of shite completed before i leave later this afternoon. wish me luck. the internet collection is pretty slow.... all those gamers on the regular computers, probably.

so here's the recap of the last 1.5 weeks.

april 9: st george. attended washington county democrat convention, gave a small speech for the candidate i'm helping. visited my parent's st george house for the first time ever, though it has been there for almost two years now. but it's been longer than that since i've visited st george.

april 11-14: who knows? school, i assume. but unforetunately, i've not been paying too much attention. i did kick ass on my arabic test (100% with the extra credit problems), which should make up for the fact that i never turn in homework.

april 15: 400 miles of driving with a friend only to arrive to find that my car is still not fixed. they have everything finished, but are missing a couple of brackets to mount the bumper. next week? maybe.

april 16-17: moab. i leave slc at 4:45am and arrive a bit after 8am. after breakfast, i arrive for my job interview/training. first off all us newbies are told that we have jobs, provided we make it through training. cool. 3 different runs down portions of the colorado river over the two days. i tweaked my ankle and was sunburnt slightly in two different spots, but had tons of fun.

so the wireless connection is spotty at best here in the library. i was so pissed that it was going in and out that i turned on the wireless detector and walked around till i found a spot with good reception. wtg me for being nerdy.

time to do some schoolwork. at least, for a little bit. saguaros, here i come!

weird, but it's the weekend

or it is for me, at least.

so you might think i got that picture from one of my 'no blood for oil' website. but no. it's actually something from a news page, describing the fact the oil futures are falling.

maybe it's a subliminal message.

anyway.... i'm soon off to the southern sunny lands.

see you all later.

for the record:

jeremy hunter was the first person to ever mail me a link, a new feature i've added to my site.

he rules.

leave comments telling him so.

kindergarten bolshevism

I’ll never forget that call. My 5 year old grandson, Jimmy, was in tears. “You have to help us, Zayde,” he bawled. “Our teacher is a poopyhead.”

“Now Jimmy,” I replied, “there’s nothing wrong with being a poopyhead; without them, there would be no Fox News.”

“But Zayde,” Jimmy continued, “she puts red star stickers on all the other kids’ foreheads and says they’re good and I never get one.” I knew at that moment that Jimmy’s teacher was a Bolshevik. I had to find out more, so I told him that I would attend his kindergarten class the next day.

my freecell habit takes a turn for the worse

as you can see, i've lost a few since the last time i posted. but i still have a great winning streak.

senator harry reid's visit to the university of utah

he's quite the impressive guy. you'd never think that one
of the most powerful people in the government would have his
down to earth personality.

here's his picture.

representative jim matheson from utah's second congressional
district introduced him.

a great summary of reid's speech can be found here:

flowers

too many of my adventure albums are filled up with pictures like these. maybe i can get it out of my system.

i spent a couple hours yesterday walking around downtown, running errands and viewing the circus. i took my camera with me.

this flower and the purple that follow it are all about the size of a dime.
(click on any of these to get a slightly bigger version)

and the simple dandelion. note the stamens.

this service reduces the quality/size of the photos quite a bit. too bad. they look even better full size.

a map to my house!

because of my nerdy nature, i have a jpg of the location of my house saved on my hard drive. of course, stalkers will have an easier time tracking me down, but i'm setting out bear traps.

i'm breaking from my study of arabic to do some computer stuff, get some music ready to pass to a friend. cool stuff, like this mogwai album ("happy songs for happy people") that i'm listening to write now. it's reminding me of explosions in the sky, another great band.

i love eating jellybellies, but not because i think they're that great. it's just fun to eat them randomly and be surprised by what flavor you get.

flavors i hate: licorice, cinnamon, and plum. (why hasn't someone invented an emoticon for vomiting?)

Using dreamweaver...

...is like like those IQ tests where you are supposed to arrange the block into different patterns. except it's tables that hold graphics and texts, tables which keep things properly alligned.

fun stuff. almost as good as freecell.
